Gym Etiquette

Don't be 'that' person! Here's how we can make the (gym) world better, one machine wipe-down at a time.

If you use it, you wipe it.

From weights to the treadmill screen, after you finish using a machine, wipe off your sweat using your own towel. We provide anti-bacterial spray in the gym, so please use it and keep your perspiration to yourself.

Suitable workout gear must be worn.

No work gear, jeans, flip flops, or boots. You need to be comfortable, and clean.

Don't drop the weights.

If you can lift them, you can put them down. Dropping weights damages them, simple.

Put your weights back.

This should go without saying but it's the most broken rule in the gym. If you find a weight somehwere it shouldn't be, put it back in the right place.

No bags on the gym floor.

Similar to putting your equipment back, it clutters up the gym and gets in everyone's way. Please put your things in a locker.

Sharing is caring.

Be willing to share equipment with other members, particularly at peak times.

Don’t be quick with unsolicited advice, this is why we have instructors.

You wouldn't believe how much bad advice we overhear in the gym. Worst case scenrio, someome could become injured, best case - you are interupting someones workout.

Keep the grunting to a minimum.

Excessive shrieking, moaning and grunting is off-putting for other members. Huffing and puffing your way through a tough workout is fine, but if people around you are glaring, you may need to turn the volume down.

Leave your chat-up lines at home.

There's nothing worse than being hit on at the gym. It's all a little too awkward!

No body-shaming!

Our gym should be a safe space for people of any shape, size or ability to workout. Many new members feel self-conscious. It's never OK to make someone feel bad about who they are and how they look. Being body positive is knowing that every body is different.

Be respectful to others.

Nobody likes another person loitering around while you're using the equipment, ready to pounce. It's uncomfortable!

Bin it!

Put litter in the bin – no one wants a messy gym floor.

If you don't know, ask.

If you want to try something new, ask one of our instructors. We don't want you to hurt yourself.

Have a fun and safe workout!
